Form 790-052: 2026 amounts for immigration authorizations and how to fill it out step by step

The 790-052 fee is the one you pay for stay and residence procedures decided by the Oficinas de Extranjería (immigration offices): the initial authorization, its renewal, arraigo, long-term residence or a modification. Its official name is «Tramitación de autorizaciones de residencia y otra documentación a ciudadanos extranjeros» (processing of residence authorizations and other documentation for foreign nationals) and, according to the official website, the body responsible for it is the Government Delegations and Sub-delegations. Once the fee is paid, the official website tells you to submit the document at the relevant office.

The official website generates it: you fill in the form, choose the province and click «Obtener Documento» (get document) to get the PDF, which you must print in full.

How to fill it out, step by step

1. Go to the 052 fee page on the Administraciones Públicas website and choose one of the two options (online payment or a form to pay at the bank).
2. Choose the regulation that applies to you (the form offers RD 316/2026 for the extraordinary regularization, RD 1155/2024 and RD 557/2011) and the province where you will submit the application. Heads up: the drop-down shows the first option selected, RD 316/2026, whose regularization authorizations could only be applied for until June 30, 2026; if that is not your case, change it and choose the one for your procedure. For context: RD 557/2011 has been repealed since May 20, 2025, and RD 1155/2024 has been in force since that day.
3. Identification: NIF/NIE, first surname, first name, nationality and full address with phone number. Fields with an asterisk are mandatory.
4. Autoliquidación (self-assessment): tick «principal». The «complementaria» option is only to top up an earlier payment, entering the number above its barcode.
5. Concept: tick the exact procedure from the table. The amount fills in automatically; for the extension of stay without a visa it depends on the days.
6. The file number is optional. Complete the dates the form asks for, the place and the security code.
7. Ingreso (payment): choose the payment method, en efectivo (cash) or adeudo en cuenta (direct debit, with the account IBAN).

Where to pay

• Online: from the electronic payment and registration form, with the «Realizar Pago» (make payment) button, which takes you to the Spanish Tax Agency's payment gateway. You need an electronic DNI, another accepted digital certificate or Cl@ve. Then you must register the fee with «Firmar y Enviar» (sign and send) and download the receipt: the website warns that without these steps the process is not complete.
• At the bank: with the printed PDF, at a collaborating financial institution, in cash or by direct debit. You must take the copies of form 790 to the bank even if you pay by direct debit.

Who does not pay

Article 47 of Organic Law 4/2000 includes, among others, these exemptions:

• Public child-protection bodies: they do not pay the fees for the authorizations they must request for the minors they legally represent.
• Authorizations to work as self-employed: the law exempts from the fees «por la concesión de las autorizaciones para trabajar» (for granting work authorizations) nationals of Ibero-American countries, the Philippines, Andorra and Equatorial Guinea, Sephardic Jews, children and grandchildren of a Spaniard of origin, and foreigners born in Spain when they are going to work as self-employed.

Mistakes that cost you an appointment

• Paying the 052 for the TIE. The card goes with the 790-012; the website warns that the 052 is not accepted for that procedure.
• Ticking the wrong concept. Initial and renewal have different amounts (€10.94 and €16.40), and arraigo is separate (€38.28).
• Paying online and not registering. Without «Firmar y Enviar» and without downloading the receipt, the fee procedure is not complete.
• Printing only one page. The website asks you to print all pages of the PDF and take the copies to the bank.
