About Emigra España

Emigra España is an independent editorial project about immigration to Spain: visas, residence permits, arraigo, nationality, the paperwork of the first months and the practical side of living here. It has been published in Spanish, English and German since April 2026.

Who writes it

The site is run by J. Alonso, its editor, together with a small editorial team. We are not lawyers, immigration consultants or public officials, and we do not present ourselves as such. We use AI tools to draft and translate, but no requirement, deadline, fee or figure is published until a person has checked it against the official source. When a guide says “verified on” a date, that date is the last time someone did exactly that.

How we verify

1. Official sources only for legal facts. Every requirement, deadline, fee or figure is checked against the consolidated text published in the BOE (Spain's Official State Gazette) or the relevant public body: the Immigration Act (Organic Law 4/2000) and its Regulation (Royal Decree 1155/2024), the Administrative Procedure Act (Law 39/2015), the Entrepreneurs Act (Law 14/2013), the Civil Code for nationality, and the official fee tables of the National Police and the Ministry of Justice.
2. The legal basis is on the page. Each guide lists the articles it relies on, and each shows the date of its last review. If the rules change, the guide is reviewed again.
3. Three languages, one set of facts. Before a guide is marked as reviewed, its Spanish, English and German versions are compared figure by figure, citation by citation and deadline by deadline. A guide is not “done” in one language.
4. Errors are corrected in full. We keep a log of every error found. When one appears, we correct it in all three languages, check the corrected page as it is actually served, and search the rest of the site for the same mistake.
5. Market data is attributed, never presented as law. Rents, transport passes or exam fees change without notice: where we cite them, we say where the number comes from and when it was checked.

What we do not do

We do not file applications, we do not charge for advice and we do not replace a lawyer or the immigration office. The information here is general. Your case may have details that change the answer: for anything that depends on them, ask a qualified professional or the competent office.

Independence and funding

Emigra España is not affiliated with any government agency, law firm or immigration consultancy. The site is funded by advertising and by affiliate links, which are disclosed on every page where they appear. A commission never changes what we recommend, and it never costs you anything extra.

Tell us. Write to info@emigraespana.com or use the contact form. An error that could lead someone to act wrongly (money, deadlines, requirements, health) is taken offline immediately and corrected before it goes back up; minor errors are corrected within 24 hours.
