Types of Arraigo in Spain
A complete guide to every arraigo route to regularise your status. Requirements, deadlines and procedure updated for 2026.
Arraigo is the main route to regularise your status if you have been living in Spain without residence authorisation. There are five types (art. 125.1 of Royal Decree 1155/2024): second chance, socio-laboral, social, socio-formativo and familiar. Each fits a different profile — familiar requires no time-in-country, social does, socio-formativo ties to a registered course.
The fact sheets cover the 2026 requirements after the Immigration Regulations reform: minimum stay, paperwork, fee, processing time, and what to do if the immigration office takes longer than expected. Full legal references appear in each sheet.
For the 2026 Extraordinary Regularisation (special route with a deadline of 30 June 2026) see the dedicated guide on the blog.
